DRIVEN BY TRUCK ART
For decades, traditional truck artists have treated India’s long-haul trucks as moving canvases. Truckers who are on the road for weeks and months rely on these artists to take them back home through art that’s close to their heart. Owners commission truck artists to paint deities to protect their truck or texts that’ll attract new customers. But the recent advent of pre-painted trucks and DIY glow-in-the-dark stickers threatens these artists’ livelihoods. As does a desire to appear “modern.” All India Permit strives to revive and promote Indian truck art and culture by encouraging these artists to ply their craft on alternative surfaces.
