Buri Nazar

Raj Dongre
Enamel paint on CR metal sheet, 17” x 12.5”, 150

It begins with a mother who puts a small black mark on her child to ward off the evil eye. A tradition older than our great grandfathers still holds special significance in Indian households. For owners, the truck is their beautiful child that they want to keep safe from harm. The artist then paints a face motif with a tongue sticking out as a traditional charm to protect the truck from the evil eye.
