The Brickfield

Digital collage on paper, 40 x 30 cm, Private Collection

Sunday morning Vincent and I went to the park to skate.

The Lightfoot family’s letters were very interesting to read as they provided me with an insight into what everyday life was like for the children of the family. This was especially true when they wrote their own letters. Twelve-year- old Peter wrote a letter to his sister Frances in which he told her about how much he enjoys ice-skating on the frozen ponds.

In this collage I combined an image of Peter with his letter to Frances, and an old map of the area where he went skating.

Vintage map of where the Lightfoot family lived
