The little girl’s fearful stance seems to confirm the apparent tension between these two men and a sense of danger. Although the men’s clothing is colored, their hands and faces are black-and-white. The girl’s treatment is just the opposite. The collaged images at the top combine with the ‘uncovered’ black painted background at the bottom to create the illusion of outdoor space. (I am totally against blood sports and have never attended a bullfight.)
