Mother & Child
This piece depicts a very well-dressed woman with her daughter. Many years ago, I created a 45-meter-long woodcut panel for a Catholic children's hospital in Hamburg. The only condition imposed on me was that my figures had to be dressed. (Up until that time, my characters were always naked.)
This piece is from the Reception Committee series of 27 woodcuts produced for the 2004 World Cultural Forum in São Paulo. It was exhibited at the entrance of the Pólo Cultural Anhembi, a large outdoor venue with a capacity of 103,200.
