Life in Venice

Woodcut print on Rives BFK Bütten paper (Edition of 9), 70 x 100 cm, €1,100

Venice is the small (and only) lake in Caxias, my Brazilian hometown. Its black sulfur and mineral-rich mud is said to have medicinal properties. People rub it on their bodies as a remedy for skin ailments like eczema. One of the city’s tourist attractions, many people visit on the weekend. I grew up picknicking on the lake with friends and family. (Death in Venice is one of my favorite movies.)
