Literacy (1989)

Roderick Sykes, Mid-City Los Angeles, Acrylic, 10’ x 20’

Three faces—an African American, an Asian American and a Latin American—celebrate the diversity of Los Angeles. The mural also emphasizes the importance of literacy, creativity, and the community. Roderick Sykes was assisted in its creation by James Anderson, Leneon Guest, Carlos Rittner, and Diondre Wilson. The mural was sponsored and commissioned by Los Angeles-based Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC).
