Nice Frock

She is delighted with the photograph of her with the nice frock.

This piece tells the story of five-year old ‘little’ Ada Lightfoot who had been over to stay with her big sister Frances for a few days, and whilst she was there had paid a visit to a photographic studio to have her picture taken. According to her mother, she enjoyed the experience.

This work was created with Photoshop, building up digital layers using a photograph of my mother as a girl in the 1920’s and scans of the letters and backgrounds, some of which I printed out and coloured by hand.
