Teal Pot

Red clay with glaze, 32 x 17 cm, Artist’s Collection (Photo: Edgar Kanaykõ Xakriabá)

The teal was the second form I learned from my mother Dalzira Xakriabá back in 2002. While I’ve modelled several pots with bird lids since 2009, it wasn’t until 2023 that I decided to create a teal-duck pot to materialize the memories of my first experiments with clay.

The glaze was extracted from white, brown and black toá, a very light mineral.
