Story Circle

Red clay with glaze, 12 x 14 cm, Artist’s Collection (Photo: Edgar Kanaykõ Xakriabá)

This sculpture refers to my childhood memories. Before the arrival of electricity in the village, people used to gather in the evening to tell stories. These story circles still take place, but less frequently. In them, aunts and uncles, grandparents, cousins, and other family members share their knowledge and memories.

The glaze was extracted from black rock, and yellow, brown, red, and grey toá, a very light mineral.
