Missing Pane

This is another piece based on Mughal and Persian miniatures (see Girl with a Pink Bow). Although the face is in profile and flat, the voluminous outfit and projecting santo arms give the figure dimensionality. The window’s missing pane suggests an old industrial setting—at odds with the pinstriped trousers of a businessman with highly polished boots. The pose is almost pirouette-like, as if at any minute he’s about to start twirling around.
