Help is on the Way

I’d done a series of Tall Men and Tall Women, but hadn’t brought the two themes together until now. The body size is exaggerated, while the hands are smaller, bringing the upper bodies closer to the viewer to create a nearly ‘in your face’ effect. There’s tension as if each is waiting for the others to say something. Maybe something profound. Does it relate to property—the large house in the distant background? A family dispute or lovers’ quarrel? Just when it looks like there’s no solution, a balloon appears on the horizon. Help is on the way!
