This piece is primarily based on Mughal and Persian miniatures. I loved the profile style of the images, not unlike Egyptian temple paintings. I added depth by adding gesticulating santo arms and “inappropriate” and misaligned footwear to the main figure. (A santo is a Hispanic mannequin figure of a Roman Catholic saint usually elaborately dressed.) In contrast, and to create depth of field, I placed the small figure of the girl watching from the sidelines.
