Constant Embrace
This is an example of how I create my own ephemera. I transferred the image of an elegant statue photographed at Istanbul’s Dolmabahce Palace onto a piece of paper, and then glued it to the top of a second paper printed with Chinese calligraphy (to which I added red chop marks). A third piece of paper with an abstract design covers the seam where the papers meet. The sharp black and white vertical patterns throw off the perspective. This piece also illustrates my love of juxtaposing empty space with a complex image. I also like texture—you can see the canvas’ grain where the blue and white areas meet.
