Lord Shiva
I am a Shiva Bhakt (worshipper of Lord Shiva). In this painting to the left of Lord Shiva, I have included the Shiva Linga, which represents Lord Shiva in Hinduism. While it symbolizes the union of mind and soul, it also physically signifies the male and female reproductive organs in a state of bliss. One part represents the lingam (male organ), whereas the other represents the yoni (vulva). It is this divine and cosmic union that creates Life.
Curator’s Note: Lord Shiva is part of Hinduism’s holy trinity along with Brahma (the Creator) and Vishnu (the Preserver). The Supreme Lord, he creates, protects, and destroys the universe in order to transform it. A serpent and trident are two of his icons.
