Untitled

Woodcut print on canvas (Edition of 15), 250 x 70 cm, €1,200

My characters are based on people—men, women, and children—created in a hybrid human-animal style I developed by chance while sketching. I drastically simplified the shapes of the figures, and started to combine them with other forms. From then on, hybrid figures became my style.

This piece is from the Reception Committee series of 27 woodcuts produced for the 2004 World Cultural Forum in São Paulo. It was exhibited at the entrance of the Pólo Cultural Anhembi, a large outdoor venue with a capacity of 103,200.
