Capoes Salesman

Woodcut print on canvas (Edition of 15), 250 x 70 cm, €1,200

This sporty character came to me while I was illustrating my artist book Familie KUH auf Weltreise/The COW Family on a World Tour. Here I also make a connection to the salesman in my Brazilian hometown of Caixas who sold live capoes (capons) hanging from the stick he carried on his shoulder.

This piece is from the Reception Committee series of 27 woodcuts produced for the 2004 World Cultural Forum in São Paulo. It was exhibited at the entrance of the Pólo Cultural Anhembi, a large outdoor venue with a capacity of 103,200.
