I took the dresses to the Galveston/Houston (Texas) area to photograph them for a Houston exhibition. I drove into a McDonald’s for a soda, and saw in the distance a line of poles used for a barrier to the Gulf waters. I pulled my suitcase of dresses across the beach, placed the dresses on the poles, and got out my camera. It felt like serendipity.
