In a Town This Size

Oil on gallery wrapped canvas, 20” x 16”, 1,500 USD

I grew up in a small town where even the smallest misstep would circulate in minutes. In a Town this Size, a song performed by American singer-songwriter John Prine, inspired this painting. The geese in the sky mimic the first lines of the song, and metaphorically refer to later lines: ‘…how the rumors do fly in a town this size.’ There is a sense of intrigue with the woman peeking out the window at the couple stealing a kiss in the street.
