El Espíritu de la Frontera

Oil on gallery wrapped canvas, 18” x 24”, 2,500 USD

El Espíritu de la Frontera is a combination self-portrait and an illustration of the USA-Mexico border wall at Border Field State Park in Tijuana, Mexico. I was a Spanish teacher for my career, and would paint my face to celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Día de los Muertos is a two-day celebration to honor those family members who have passed.
