In Karagöz plays, supernatural beings often bewitch Karagöz, changing the direction of the plot. In this painting, the artist wanted to show his duality: a devilish character in the foreground, and his normal self in the background. Although he sometimes acts badly, in the end Karagöz returns to the right path.
