Entertaining with Music & Poetry
The Arabs’ love of music and poetry reached new heights during the Abbasid period centered in Baghdad (762-1258). Thanks to the traditions they brought from their desert homeland, this culture grew richer day by day. Poetry adorned the walls of houses, curtains, people's clothes, and even their shoes. Nighttime entertainment events featured beautiful dancers, music, and poetry recitations.
