After the Wave

Handmade ceramic tiles & mirror glass, 10.25” x 10.25”, Artist’s Collection

This is an homage to Japanese ikiyo-e master Hokusai, and his famed 1831 color woodblock print, ‘The Great Wave Off Kanazawa.’ My interpretation is composed of ceramic tile shards I create myself and mirror glass. I added a fiery orange-red sun and blue glass sky to Hokusai’s original artwork.
