When I began this series, I wanted to expand on the small sculptural forms I’d used in “Centerpiece(s).” I first made a series of wall-hung pieces. I didn’t want to represent specific flowers, leaves, etc. Instead, I wanted each small clay piece to suggest natural flora, but still be abstract so that a viewer could wonder about it. The use of a simple white glaze added to the piece’s mystery and abstraction. Color would’ve been too literal an addition to this work.
