Privately, I refer to this figure as Marcelle, my beloved mother-in-law who died in 2017. Beautifully dressed in vintage sari fragments—stoic and divine—she carefully concealed her trauma deep within under the veil of elegant presence. She is photographed in front of an antique stage backdrop.
