Throughout her history, Istanbul has been home to different empires, peoples, and faiths. The three Istanbul monuments shown represent the three major faiths that have co-existed there: The Ashkenazi Synagogue, The Blue Mosque, and Hagia Irene. Being a cosmopolitan and metropolitan city, Istanbul was and remains a world capital, and a unique mosaic of cultural diversity. The Arabic calligraphy reads, Allah, while the tulip is a symbol of Turkey.
