Falak Al Gazzi

Fumage, soot on paper, 48 x 33 cm, Private Collection

Thousands of refugees drown crossing the seas in flimsy boats, hoping to find freedom and better lives. Those who are lucky enough to reach land are often turned back or are forced to stay in camps with horrible living conditions. They become people without a country. The smoke and soot I work with expresses the fragility of life.
