Mystery

Acrylic on sheep wool sofreh kilim, 150 x 118 cm, £1500

The sofreh I paint on were woven by women of the Qashqai tribe. They sat on the sofreh when they made naan bread. This piece’s 48 stars divide the kilim into two sections – a section for sitting on, and a section for placing the dough. I painted the egg in a transparent style. Just like a mystery, it’s difficult to see.
