SENAY ULUSOY, Turkey
My work employs the language of fairytales to address the problems of modern existence and the predicament of women living in a patriarchal world. I address these issues through existential concepts like birth, death, absurdity, and ‘meaning.’ I also explore the organic nature of life with the choice of materials I use. Inspired by both Western and Eastern approaches to interpreting and communicating the nature of reality, I attempt to fuse the former’s analytical perspective with the latter’s oral tradition with its emphasis on symbolism and storytelling.
