Carver Community Garden

This lovely spot can be easily missed because of its geographical distance from the rest of the gardens. Twice threatened to be demolished for a new development, the garden was once an open daycare center for children. Lack of funding and unsafe conditions forced the classes to be canceled. But the spirit of the volunteers endured. They kept digging and planting vegetables and flowers, creating a beautifully maintained space for all to share. The grounds speak of care and commitment, but also life’s ephemeral nature.
