Armadillo Pot

Red clay with glaze, 31 x 18 cm, Artist’s Collection (Photo: Edgar Kanaykõ Xakriabá)

The armadillo hunts I frequently went on with my family inspired this piece. The armadillo was a common source of food for us. All the raw material I use to build my pieces is collected in my territory. There are many types of clay available, varying in color and strength. Some are more sandy than others.

The glaze was extracted from white toá, a very light mineral.
