Hands 1

Photograph, 15 x 21 cm, £250

You are with me today,
and I hold you tight

This is from a series of hand photographs that continues the theme of care. Hands frequently feature in my work as symbols of support. They serve as anchors. Lines and wrinkles on their surface mark life’s path and experience. They are all different—individually textured and shaped. Hands carry us through life, serve as a tool, and offer the most needed support—a hug or touch—when we need it the most. The interwoven hands in this piece create an abstract shape with fleshy colors. The hands’ outline serves as a boundary between the physical body and the void—the constant tension between these two.
