May You Burn Candles for Me

Acrylic on board, 25 x 20 cm, 500 NZD

My father’s passing was a big loss in my life—both in his affection and care—and as the strongest link I had with my Romanichal heritage. “May you burn candles for me” is one of the Romani sayings that I love. It’s about the remembrance of a person’s essence. The feathers refer to another saying: If you see ravens on the road at the start of your travels, it’s good luck.
