Red River Blues

Acrylic on canvas, 60” x 48”, 10,500 USD

Some of the most influential American musicians, including Blues artists, had Native blood. Charlie Patton, Link Wray, Jimmie Hendrix, Mildred Baily and more left their mark on various musical genres of the 20th century. Many pre-colonial Native songs utilized call-and-response, also used in the Blues. The musician here proudly displays his eagle feathers, and pays tribute to those who performed at a time when they weren’t free to identify as Native.
