In the Lead

Acrylic on canvas, 40” x 16”, US Dept. of the Interior Museum Collection

Comanche people often moved their camps, seasonally migrating to familiar locations within their domain and beyond. Individuals that were part of various warrior societies had specific roles, one of which was to travel well ahead and signal back to the main body if danger was near. In the Lead is my tribute to the Comanche warriors that fulfilled this role.
