I started making more dresses in 2009, but this time from vintage tablecloths. This inspiration came from a vintage magazine illustration where the young woman was dressed in a full circle gingham dress and was sitting on the ground with it spread out around her. It looked like she was the picnic. I re-read Margaret Atwood’s Edible Woman and some of Grimms’ Fairy Tales where children are in danger and, of course, sometimes eaten.
