I was re-reading Toni Morrison’s novel Beloved. There’s a scene where a character goes to a place in the woods, a place where her group had gathered in the past. Morrison writes, ‘If you go there and stand in the place where it was, it will happen again; it will be there for you waiting.’ By being there, she remembered the way she felt and the power of the group. This character can experience that energy just by returning to its place of origin.
