The tragic love story of Ferhad and Shirin is a famous and popular Karagöz play. It’s based on Khosrow and Shirin, a 12th-century Persian poem by Nizami. Like Romeo and Juliet, it ends with the death of both lovers. This timeless tale has also been the subject of many conventional theater productions and films.
