Bleached

Repetition Series, Polystyrene, calico & Jesmonite, 80 x 70 x 60 cm, Artist’s Collection

This sculpture is made from non-biodegradable materials, such as polystyrene, that pollute our oceans and destroy our marine life. These inorganic materials come together to produce an ironically organic-looking sculpture reminiscent of bleached coral, making a comment on Climate Change.

The Repetition Series reflects my interest in combining repeated abstract shapes and objects to make a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Like natural evolution, repetition can create difference as well as repetition.
