Abdukarim Yulvas

Hashim15.JPG

Oil on canvas, 99 x 89 cm, 10000 USD

This portrait resembles my friend Abdukarim Yulvas, and is dedicated to him. His nickname “Yulvas” means “tiger” in Uighur. In addition to their name, Uighurs usually have a nickname passed down through the male line. Originally from Kashgar, an ancient Silk Road oasis city, he now lives in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
