Hashim8.jpg

Carving, tinting & varnish on gourd, 67 cm tall, 5000 USD

The attire and jewelry of this Buddhist princess are taken from the wall paintings of 1,500-year-old Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves (Myn-Oy in Uighur). Her parasol protects her from the heat and sun of Turfan, a Silk Road oasis city located 120-250 meters below sea level.
