Straight to Hell

In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria’s destruction, the American citizens of Puerto Rico were forced to drink from streams, and stand in line for ice, gas, and food. The front-page headline of the September 30, 2017 issue of New York City’s Daily News newspaper screamed the reaction of then American President Trump: ‘They want everything done for them!’ This piece features both Trump and Lin-Manuel Miranda, an American of Puerto Rican descent, and my former student and creator of the award-winning Broadway musical Hamilton. ‘You’re going straight to Hell,’ was Miranda’s response.
