Elemental Spiral

Handmade ceramic tiles & mirror glass, 12” x 11.5”, 1,100 USD

Based on my study of fiddlehead ferns and spirals found in nature, I created an abstract work while imagining the fronds of a young fern unfurling. (Technical note: Unlike traditional clay mosaics, I don’t utilize grout, which flattens work. Instead, I nip and sand individual pieces until they fit together, so completed mosaics appear as tightly layered collages of ceramic and glass.)
