Group Quilt

Aykut Hamzagil cotton fabrics, 270 x 240 cm, Private Collection

My quilting group of 10 women decided to make a quilt for each of our daughters. Each of us made four 50x50 cm squares for each quilt based on different Amish patterns. While we could each choose our own pattern, we agreed on a dominant color for each quilt. Working as a group, we pieced our squares together to complete each machine-made quilt (a process we repeated 10 times). We each kept one of the quilts for our daughters, and embroidered our names on the reverse side. This is the one I kept. It was a symbol of our friendship and love.
