In 2011 I began working on a series called "Centerpiece(s)." Each is a series of plates with a vase at the top. I imagined they could either be taken apart when needed and used for serving, or left as is, as a sculptural piece with flowers in the vase. The vase itself represented an abstract flower. By this time, I realize that I’m using the different ceramic pieces to represent the natural imagery I’d previously painted on my pots. The imagery had become three-dimensional.
