Porcelain with glaze. Artist’s Collection.

In 2019 I was invited to create a show for the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Illinois, sharing the space with a painter. Since she’d be using the walls, I wouldn’t have much room for my wall-hung pieces. So I set about making some tabletop sculptures. I really enjoyed the challenge, and came up with this form. Still using the abstraction that is important to my series, I added feet and horizontal "leaves."  I can’t truthfully tell you whether they’re animal or vegetable, but I’m not sure it matters.
